Your top performing employees may appear to be the calmest members of your team. They may seem to be the less demanding when it comes to compliments and rewards. You may have known them for years now and have formed a strong bond with them. However, this does not mean that you need to stop showing your appreciation with the work that they accomplish.

Foster collaboration. Instead of you focusing on a low performer team member, you can actually allow your star player to collaborate with the other member so that they will be able to learn from each other. This collaboration will foster sharing of ideas and cooperation that will allow your top player to understand the responsibility of being a leader.
Give them a tap on the back for a job well done. Celebrating their accomplishments is a great reward and fulfillment. Your top employee may not show it but they always long for the appreciation that the company expresses towards them.
Do not wait for your members to voice out their discontentment. As a leader or a manager it is a part of your responsibility to ensure that your team has a pleasant relationship with everyone at the workplace. Bringing a team together requires a lot of effort and creating functional relationships within the team requires valuing each member no matter how small their roles are.
