No smartphone needed. You can sign up for what’s called a “Bluebird Card,” which is a debit card (no fees) hosted by American Express. Walmart puts your Wal-bucks on the card account and you use the card in the store just like any debit card. They also offer the option of putting your Wal-bucks on a Walmart gift card, but I think you have to let that accrue to a certain dollar amount (like $25) before they’ll send it to you. I have a Bluebird Card. I enter every receipt on savingscatcher, and at least 60% of the time they find one or two items cheaper elsewhere and kick something back, even if it’s only a few cents. Over the course of a year, it ads up. That $120 I have on there now is about average for a year’s accrual.
