When I was in my most intense “Castaneda years,” reading and rereading his books in the late ’70s, early ’80s, I had a little golden “laughing Buddha” just like the one on your picture here, that I named “Don Genaro” after Carlos’s benefactor. Castaneda was still alive back then, but Don Juan’s party, which would have included Genaro, had already passed through the crack between the worlds (if I’m remembering the terminology correctly)… Just an interesting coincidence.
