We can’t have two angry groups, each suffering from their own oppression, lashing out at each other.

You are absolutely right, from the perspective of We The People. A major problem, though, is that They The Politicians thrive on pitting oppressed groups against each other along race and class lines. When we are at each other’s throats, they can do whatever they want, unopposed.
