This was the third year that Mr Andros Karasavvas had organised the gruelling 24 hour swimming challenge.
Four teams, each with 6 members, took part in the event this year representing:
- HQ BFC
- 2 Mercian
- Station Lifeguards
- CJPU.
Starting at 0900hrs on Thursday 31 October, after a gruelling 24 hours of swimming the results were as follows:
1st place — HQ BFC with 1,351 lengths swam — a total of 67km and 550m
2nd place — Station Lifeguards with 1126 lengths swam — a total of 61kms
3rd place — 2 Mercians with 1,003 lengths swam — a total of 54km and 800m
4th place — CJPU with 919 lengths swam — a total of 50km and 60m
The event also raised a total of €723 for the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal.
