Interesting report. Glad you’ve transcended the nihilism that wouldn’t serve you in life. Although I’d caution you to reevaluate your definition of what Ayahuasca is. It is not characterized accurately in your piece. the medicine is named after the vine, which doesn’t contain DMT and there are many compounds in the usual recipe of 2 plants. The DMT is in the second plant, usually Chacruna leaves. Anyway, this reductionism of molecular composition as explanatory of what’s active and creating the experience is limited and inadequate. The vine doesn’t exist simply to deliver the MAO Inhibitor so the DMT can cross the blood brain barrier, that’s just a simplistic westernized version of what’s happening. There is a lot that is not known or understood and reporting that which is known as if it’s a complete and accurate breakdown is misleading.
