Hiring your first Product Manager

While there is no hard and fast rule for everyone, and transferring someone into product often makes sense for the reasons you’ve outlined (and the difficulty finding good product managers in the first place) it also vastly underappreciates the product manager role and risks putting someone into the job who doesn’t have the experience or the chops to handle it.
