For four years we pass people in the hallway, never truly getting to know who they are or what they do. Yes we have an occasional talk with the person who complemented our sweatshirt or our J’s. But we don’t ever bother to know them do we? Do we ever even try to get passed the first chat with them?
As a senior at prospect, I always knew of Karen Sanello because of a old mutual friend, but I never really got to know her. I mean that is until we got creative writing together and I didn’t really know anybody else to sit by. I took the computer next to her and sat down. Tow days later we got paired up with a boy named Josh to do an assignment called “The 36 Questions That Lead to Love.” Although we only got through the first section of the questions, I learned a lot more about Karen then I did before.
So given the choice out of anyone in the world, and I mean anyone. Who would you have as a dinner guest?
I'd want to meet with my whole immediate family. My dad passed away and I would just be so nice to have one last family dinner ya know?
Would you want to be famous? And in what way?
Yeah, but not too famous because I wouldn’t want to be stopped in like the middle of a grocery store or something. So I would probably want to be famous for art or something or maybe singing but that’s very far fetched so yeah.
. What would constitute for a perfect day?
A perfect day would be staying home, watching tv, reading, drawing, and cuddling my cat.
What in your life do you feel most grateful for?
My family. Like I don’t have many friends so I’m grateful that I’m close with them.
If a crystal ball could tell you about your life or anything else what would it be?
I don’t want to know the future because it takes out the quality of surprise. I don’t know. If it’s a possibility I’d ask about past lives and if I had one.
Is there something you’ve been meaning to do? Why haven’t you done it?
Oh gosh. Probably start a band but I have no friends. No one in the band I was in played any instruments We even stole our band name from the Brats Are Angels movie.
Even tough it was in reality a small talk, I really enjoyed getting to know the passing smile.
