Vim shortcuts for the beginners

I always end up falling back to vi editors, which I only know a few shortcuts

Maybe this will help?

cursor movement

L: move to the bottom of the text (low)

H: move to the top of the page (high)

$: move to the end of line

^: move to the beginning of the line

w: jump one word forward (b: backwards)

5G: go to line 5

editing / cut copy

r: replace single char


x: delete one chart

yy: copy current line(yank)

2yy: copy 2 lines

5dd: delete 5 lines

p: paste clipboard after cursor ( P: before cursor)

v:start visual select (esc: exit visual select)


:w — save but don’t quit

:wq: save and quit
