As you pointed out, socialist experiments haven’t worked out too well in the past. Just look at Venezuela today.

Maduro was subsequently elected as a socialist candidate. Now look at where Venezuela has ended up. Their economy contracted by 19% in one year. People are starving and dying. Things are totally nuts there.
Those who claim to be anti-capitalist here in the U.S. should keep in mind that capitalism comes in many shades. Just because your kid has the flu doesn’t mean you should abandon her.
