“Marijuana is for Lazy Bums”

The pot of today isn’t the marijuana of the hippie generation. Much of it comes in nice packaging in the form of edibles and beverages, not so different from the kombucha bottles you might see at the supermarket.

Cannabis-infused Dixie Elixirs

Marijuana is among the most valuable crops in the world. Like wine, it consists of numerous strains and varietals that contribute to a rich selection serving a wide range of needs and tastes. Although it has faced strong headwinds over the centuries, marijuana has consistently maintained a strong following among entire nations, cultures, and social groups.

Scholars believe that cannabis may be among the earliest crops cultivated by humankind, dating back eight millennia ago when the Chinese used the plant’s seeds and oil for food. A few millennia later, technology pioneers of their day used hemp to make rope and textiles in areas that are now Russia and China. Marijuana was named in an early Hindu text as the “Sacred Grass” for its medical properties. Documents even show that medical marijuana was prescribed in ancient Greece. In the 1800’s, marijuana plantations flourished in California, New York, and the southern U.S.[1]
