Next Generation Search Engines

I was reading posts on LinkedIn and found interesting question “Why doesn’t Google offer a chatbot on their homepage?”

I quickly gone through the interesting replies. Majority of the respondent have mentioned that Google itself is kind of chatbot. However the question made me think in different direction.

Few questions striked in my mind such as:

  1. Does Google crawls chat bots?
  2. How do you evaluate chatbot quality?
  3. Any kind of review mechanism for chatbots?
  4. How could you track progress of chatbot? If chatbot it self is learning itself?

We as a human learn topics and then appear for an exam / tests to evaluate what we have learnt. Similarly software solutions which learnt stuff — shouldn’t we evaluate if they learnt something and if yes what was the quality of learning?

These questions lead me to next question — “What could next generation search engine do?”

  1. Provide review about user experiences of individual chat bots of different products.
  2. Take query from user — talk to chat bots of multiple products of same domain. Get the results. Analyse the result and provide best result to user.
  3. Evaluate if the individual chat bot is improving their quality (each chat bot claims to be AI powered) — Like Google ranks page based on quality factors. Come up with quality factors for each chat bot.
  4. Calculate query resolution time for each visitor on website.
  5. Search with help of bots
  6. Provide bots which turns company wiki / knowledge base into useful response
