I use to be a staunch AAP guy but not anymore. They brought hope, conviction and a desire for change. And just when i was about to turn to the next page, they ran away, submitted themselves to the mainstream political drama and became all that the country which supported them never asked for.

Currently if we take a bird eye view there are three factions in the country: BJP fronted by Narendra Modi, AAP fronted by Kejriwal and Congress fronted by Rahul Gandhi . Out of these BJP is riding Modi wave and Congress is losing ground quickly to them. So supporters on BJP side are keeping their fingers crossed and hoping for the best. They feel Modi will propel India back to growth trajectory which will make us major player in global market and on the other hand Congress supporters are doing their best to prove that BJP and Modi are communal and detrimental for the country. Third type of supporters i.e AAP supporters have emerged in past 1 year or so and I was also one of them. Off late with latest antics of Kejriwal , Somnath Bharti and other AAP leaders, supporters like me has either changed their stance or supporters who are still sticking on with them are busy justifying there support to AAP. So I just wanted to know unlike me who are these people and why are they still carrying AAP on their shoulders.

After interacting with few of my sample group I came to a realization that some of them either are just going by media coverage and as soon as media hype dies down their support also de-escalate. Others are supporters who probably started to pay attention to politics only because of AAP and do not have much knowledge about Indian Political scenarios. AAP bought Indian politics in the forefront this I will give it to them and today if we see large voter turnout in few assembly polls we can attribute some credit to Anna and Kejriwal. One more type of AAP supporters I have come across are those who are vehement supporters and I feel these are the guys who wants to see India change for good. They have not yet abandoned the idea of AAP and hoping AAP can still pull a cat out of the bag

My abandoning of AAP started when Kejriwal who certified himself to be different from all other political parties started taking up issues like communalism being a bigger threat then corruption . Also abandoning your CM post when Delhi / India needed you the most was also not encouraging signs to come. People elected and put AAP into government because they thought Kejriwal will look at the loopholes and will try to fix them. People supported his out of the ordinary way of running government, supported him when he came to dharna while he was still in power but they never expected him to vacate his seat just because he cannot handle his manipulative opposition. Well that was a given and Kejriwal knew that he needs to handle opposition when in power. He had the opportunity of knowing his enemy beforehand and was apprised of the games that they can play. So what happens if he again comes in power, will the opposition be less corrupt by then. Congress was giving all its support to AAP and if they were raising any question they were very well within their rights but they never ever threatened to withdraw their support from AAP. Nobody was asking for Kejriwal’s resignation but still he chose to give up his responsibility.

AAP supporter are hanging on to a notion that AAP will weed out corruption and one day they will see a corruption free India. If we look at successful economy around the world and how their government operate their is not a single country in the world to whom we can give a corruption free country certificate. Now that doesn’t mean that corruption is necessary or impossible to weed out but the point here is it is impossible to expect every 1.2 billion people in India to be honest. As I write this, Kejriwal in his rally in Haryana has said “Communalism is bigger problem than Corruption”. So there you have it, Kejriwal himself contradicting himself. This I am sure will give more fodder to attack AAP supporter. AAP supporter should understand that person who they are after is really realizing his political dream and using corruption plank to take supporters for a ride. Corruption is sensitive issue and people galvanize to people who talk about removing corruption specially the middle class. But our supporter should not just blindly follow a person who is good at theatrics and just talk the talk and not walk the talk when the time comes. Kejriwal very well understands what a common man wants and how a common man wants to perceive its ministers . In that way Kejriwal has achieved holy grail. He now understands people mindset and has read it to the T. He just cannot go wrong with that. It is for us to understand whether it is genuine or not

A thorough knowledge of the minister people support is necessary and knowledge should not just come from TV channels and a quick glance at the newspaper. If you research carefully , Kejriwal has always contradicted himself and that is not right for a party who claims that he is the purest form of minister in the country. He wanted to be in government and people of Delhi got him into government but he left the CM post just in 49 days saying that he cannot run this corrupt system. Well that is convenient for you but not for your supporters Mr. Kejriwal……..
