“when we focus our attention on ourselves, we evaluate and compare our current behavior to our internal standards and values. We become self-conscious as objective evaluators of ourselves.”
Having self-awareness means that you have a sharp realization of your personality, including your strengths and weaknesses, your thoughts and beliefs, your emotions and the list goes on, it’s basically knowing in and out of yourself and sticking to it.
Self-Improvement Is Impossible Without Self-Awareness
If you don’t know who you are and what you are good at and what you suck at, you can never improve yourself, you can never be the best version, you can never be who you wanted to be!.
“An unexamined life is not worth living“
Knowing others is intelligence; knowing yourself is true wisdom. Mastering others is strength; Mastering yourself is true power.”
-Lao Tzu, Chinese Taoist Philosopher
Most philosophers believe that one’s entire life is a journey towards self-discovery, Do you know yourself? If so, how do you know? After all, the eye cannot behold itself. You can, of course, look in the mirror. But, according to scientific research none of us really acknowledge the truth of what is real but, rather, project our subconscious image of ourselves, positive or negative, on what we actually see And that doesn’t help you.
Self-Awareness doesn’t only mean knowing yourself but also knowing your surroundings, the environment and the world around us!.
Plato once said “I must first know myself, as the Delphian inscription says; to be curious about that which is not my concern, while I am still in ignorance of my own self would be ridiculous. I may be a simpleton, but in my opinion, only that knowledge which is of being and of the unseen can make the soul look upwards.”
And that’s it for now, Thank you for reading, hope you enjoyed it, let me know what do you think about it and don’t forget to like and share and do all those good stuff!.
