Concrete Repair Solutions and their application

Modern day structures may lack something in the aesthetic department but they come out in spades in the durability department. They are built in such a way that they remain strong and headfast with little to no maintenance, over a long period of time. One of the main processes that contribute to the longetivity of modern structures is the application of concrete repair solutions (CRS). These solutions work like medicine for the structures as they repair and mend any kind of damage or discrepancy. On top of that it also strengthens the construction and gives it a prolonged life (beyond what the structural design gives). Concrete repair solutions are the industry standard for repair and maintenance of concrete structures.

The problem with concrete is that it is strong in terms of compression but weak in terms of tension. Therefore even a little tension over the threshold proves debilitating for concrete causing cracks, holes and other issues. A variation of different factors is usually responsible for concrete deterioration. Some of these factors are exposure to chemicals, exposure to extreme weather conditions like sub-zero temperatures and corrosion of the embedded steel or other metals. Durability issues are the reason for concrete repairs in almost three fourths of all the cases. CRS is used widely for repair purposes as they are very flexible and bond easily with the different chemicals involved in the building of concrete structures. It works its magic even when applied on damp steel.

The way that concrete repair solutions work is that they form a layer over the surface or coat the surface on which they are applied. This gives the surface unparalleled protection from external damage. Carbonation and chloride influx are two of the main reasons for concrete deterioration. Even untreated concrete exposed to the elements is susceptible to damage. The best part about CRS is that it is a permanent fix to your structural problems. Because of this it has proved to be quite useful in filling holes, waterproofing a surface, filling cracks, gaps etc. In terms of appearance CRS gives the surface a shine and is available in many different colors. It also protects against deterioration and imposes a bond of repair mortars. Fully compatible with load transfer prerequisites, it ensures a harmonized bond.

Without CRS, concrete wouldn’t be a viable option for building houses. It simply would have been too risky to build a home out of something that is susceptible to tension. Thankfully CRS makes the possibility of concrete structures a practical reality. The use of CRs is not just restricted to buildings but it can also be used in the repair of concrete pavements, floors, roofs etc.
