We took our bags and walked through the not so dark streets of Klagenfurt to the garage where we would get into Martina’s car. On our way we met a few people on their way home or to another bar. Their friday night was over, our Saturday had just begun.
We drove for about 2 hours through the darkness, before we decided to stop for a little coffee break.
When we arrived at Vienna the darkness was gone and I started to get tired. We made our way to the airport via train and of course we were too early.
So we waited — not for the last time on this day.
After some time, a lot of walking and showing our passports to various authorities, we made it to the plane, which took off 45 minutes later than expected.
I fell asleep.
We landed in Edinburgh 20 minutes later than expected. I had no idea what tine it is. Is the clock on my phone already set to local time? Yes? No? No idea…
To actually get into the country (passing the border, which ist just a gate at the airport) we had to use our E-Passports and a maschine that pretends to compare your face with the one on your passport. The maschine takes ages to do so, which it only does to convince you that it actually does something before opening the plastic gate that keeps your from entering the UK.
Waiting for ages to get our luggage, before we had to wait for ages to get our car. What time is it?
We did not get the car we’ve booked. We got a bigger one. I liked that — at first.
The good news: Driving on the left is easier than expected, because you already sit on the other side of the car.
The bad news: Roundabouts with multiple lanes, are hell and one of the most stressing thing I’ve ever experienced.
The ugly news: There is a roundabout like this every half mile of the way.
We crossed impressive bridges and admired the landscape until we reached Dundee. We were told Dundee has modern architecture. We never saw that.
Our B&B was nice. Tiny room, but clean. That’s fine for me. In the evening we walked through the city and took some photos. The weather was better than expected. We even saw the sun from time to time, but much more important: We found a steak house and we used it.
We walked along Darkness road, crossed Elm Street and everything looks like in a 90s weekly crime show on ZDF.
I’m here in the B&B now, writing these lines and my eyes get heavy. I think it is 10:45 PM local time right now. We will sleep now. We’ll deserve it — or at least that’s what Martina’s fitibit says.
