The ban on discrimination against away supporters, which is considered a hidden obstacle to watching the K League, will disappear from next year. Each team will be able to manage the squad with room as the number of players added to the list of players to participate in the first division.

The Korea Professional Football Federation KFA said on the 25th, “We held the 7th board meeting in 2023 to deliberate and vote on agendas such as increasing the number of players participating in the minimum annual salary increase, prohibiting discrimination in away support seats, and confirming Kimpo FC’s qualifications to advance to the promotion playoffs.”

First of all, the board of directors decided to raise the minimum basic annual salary for K-League players from 24 million won to 27 million won from 2024. It has been four years since the minimum basic annual salary was raised from 20 million won to 24 million won in 2020. The federation said it decided to raise the minimum basic annual salary in consideration of the improvement of welfare of low-salary players and the trend of inflation.

Another change is that the maximum number of players on the K League 1 roster will increase. Starting next year, the number will increase from 18 to 20. As a result, the number of waiting players will increase from a maximum of seven to a maximum of nine, in addition to 11 starting players. Considering the impact of increased operating costs, K League 2 decided to maintain 18 players.

Discrimination in the away cheering section is welcome news from fans.

The federation decided to establish a new regulation that prohibits overcrowding of spectators cheering for the away team in narrow areas, placing away cheering seats in places with poor viewing views, and preventing the price of away cheering seats from being set higher than other seats under the same conditions.

It also decided on related contents ahead of this year’s promotion and playoffs.

The “Hana One Q K League Promotion Playoff 2023” will be held as a showdown between the 11th place in the K League 1 and the 2nd place in the K League 2 Promotion PO1, and the 10th place in the K League 1 and the winner of the K League 2 playoffs Promotion PO2. The first leg of both the promotion PO1 and the promotion PO2 will be played on December 6 at the home stadium of the K League 2 team. The second game will take place on December 9 at the home stadium of the K League 1 team. Foreign players can register up to three players with no nationality and one player in the Asian quarter on the list of participating players and have them play. In overtime, the number of replacements and the number of replacements will be increased by one.

The board of directors decided to recognize the qualification to enter the Gimpo FC promotion PO. However, the stand at the Salter Football Stadium in Gimpo FC’s home stadium, which currently has about 5,000 seats, should be expanded to more than 10,000 seats, the minimum standard for the K League 1, according to the K League game regulations by April next year.

The federation said that after reviewing the plan to expand the stands submitted by Gimpo City to the federation, it was determined that it would be possible to advance to and promote the promotion PO on the condition that it would meet the conditions for the stands at the K League 1 stadium by April next year.

Meanwhile, the board of directors elected Kim Jung-bae, vice chairman of the Korea Football Association, as the new director of the federation. In addition, the maximum number of players aged 23 or older who can be rented to foreign clubs will be reduced from 8 to 7 in accordance with FIFA regulations and from July 2024.

A new regulation has been established that allows teams or players to decide to close the away support seats during the club’s away games if they do not faithfully carry out education, interviews, and vows to prevent irregularities. 스포츠토토
