I recently googled ‘education startup in Bangladesh’. Not helpful. No updated article published anywhere on this, no list available online. If anyone wants to learn anything about the education startups in Bangladesh from online, the person will struggle big time. So, I decided to make a list of startups that I know personally who are working in the sector for a few years, have solid products or services offering for children or student and generating revenue. One or two of them also raise investments.

This is a ‘live article’ that I wish to update on a regular basis. So, here’s the Top Education Startups in Bangladesh. By clicking the links of the companies, interested people can get a better understanding of them.

Hopefully, this article will help investors looking for potential education startups. Those who are also looking for various collaboration opportunities with education startups, this ‘live’ document will also be helpful.

  1. 10 Minute School: Founded by Ayman Sadiq, 10 Minutes School is almost a household name among young students in Bangladesh. They are offering all types of online learning and skill development opportunities for students from Standard 1 to University Students.
  2. Eshosikhi: Through its web-platform as well as DVD format, the company is offering interactive multimedia lectures, practice materials and constant guidance from teachers to students across the country. The primary target is the students preparing for University Admission and SSC, HSC Test preparation. S M Tanveer is the Co-founder and CEO of the startup. They’ve raised investment from BD Ventures.   3. Caretutors.com: Caretutors.com- The first ever online tutor matching platform in Bangladesh. Caretutors.com helps students/parents connect with qualified tutors in-person and online tutors in over 12 different categories. Masud Parvez Raju is the founder and CEO of Caretutors.com, an online tutor matching platform based in Dhaka. Started in 2012, Caretutors.com is now one of the largest online tutor providing platforms in the country. The platform has now over 50,000 tutor’s profile and receives over 600 queries per month.   4. Tutoriaa.com: Similar to Caretutors.com, Tutoriaa also connects Students and Tutors through their platform. According to their website, they have 20,000+ tutors ready and scattered across the country for providing in Home tutor service, Online tutor service and Group classes.
  5. Repto: Repto is an ed-tech company that offers various skill development courses especially focusing on youth and graduates through its online platform. Besides, online courses Repto also ensures that people can buy their courses on DVD. Repto is a GP Accelerator Graduate. Founder and CEO Ishtiyak Sheyam.   6. e-Shikhon.com: Founded by Ibrahim Akbar, e-Shikhon (ই-শিখন) is the largest online skill development platform in Bangladesh. Unlike Repto, e-Shikhon has a broad range of courses and admission preparation tests for students too. Besides making their courses online, it also offers DVDs for students who don’t have high-speed internet to take online or live courses. Most interestingly, e-Shikhon now hired 45 local agents (local IT training centers) all over Bangladesh where interested students can come to take their courses using the agent’s computer and internet facility. This smart move enables them to use existing local training infrastructure to reach out to more students.
  7. Shikhbe Shobai: Students get Online Support from Shikhbe Shobai’s Mentors to develop their skills to get on board in various Freelancing marketplaces like Fiverr, Upwork, People Per Hour and so on. Beside, the trainees enter into jobs in Local Marketplaces. They have trained nearly 2755 students within the last 1.6 years where 1473 students got their training through under “Online Education” model. Already 1035 successful freelancers are working in different International and Local marketplaces those were trained by Shikhbe Shobai.
  8. Shonod Edutainment: Founded by Saydujjaman Shamim. Shonod offers e-learning opportunity for children from Class 1 to 12 based on the national curriculum. Parents can buy DVDs of the entire class or subjects with a small fee. Shonod is one of the earliest startups to enter into curriculum-focused e-learning for students in Bangladesh.
  9. The Tech Academy: Founded by Shams Jaber in 2015. The Tech Academy is comprised of two parts. One is the school and the other is the firm. The Academy invents new things and the firm sells those products and solutions to other companies. What students invent in the classroom with their teachers, comes into reality.   10. Sirena Technologies: Sirena Technologies Bangladesh is the local office of Sirena Technologies Banglaore, India. Currently, they run after-school program from children through its 8 centers in Dhaka city to teach children robotics. This unique platform supports a very innovative learning method to help kids to learn advanced technologies, engineering, programming. There is a number of similar small initiatives in Bangladesh, but Sirena Technologies is the largest in terms of operation with multiple locations. Sirena Technologies Bangladesh CEO is Mustafa Hasan.
