thoughts on black girl wisdom

one-line poems

All of me is tired

of fighting battles

That were never meant to be won.

Love doesn’t mean I say yes

To things I don’t desire

Love means I just say yes to me.

Paradise lies at the feet

of those willing to surrender

To the pain of a past

That no longer matters.

Sweet bliss is like

Crimson moon come once

in a lifetime

pigmented rouge

like my ruby woo.

What happens to little black girls

when they are asked to dim

their light

they shine even brighter.
