As the world is digitizing, cyber security has also evolved & got the huge mass over the decades.Although, talking in context of our country nepal it has slightly became the topic of sensation over the last few years. But still the people here in Nepal are not aware about this sensitive topic.By the rapid growth of internet, people are getting updated with the technology, but people still have no idea is their data & information are safe?

we have heard many news over the years that our banks & many business organizations got hacked. There are many security researchers, engineers, ethical hackers in nepal are trying their best to overcome the cyber attacks. But, what the normal peoples can do to became cyber safe.cyber security refers to the another terminology called hacking. Hacking the topic of fun for teenagers & crime for the society here in Nepal. Also the part of joke too.But phishing links, identity theft, data stolen, blackmailing etc are not a joke. people just randomly inputs their data to any sites without verifying how their data is being used. Teenagers are just using it as a method of fun & getting attraction and some are getting in criminal activities too.so, as an information security learner i am is sharing my opinions listed below to overcome the risk of cyber threats:

  • Don’t randomly input your data on any sites without reading the terms & conditions. ( I repeat any sites)
  • Don’t do hacking for fun or never target any site to perform the action. It’s illegal( Especially for teenagers)
  • Don’t leave your phone unlocked or unattended for a second.
  • Don’t publish too much information on social media & learn to respect your own privacy.(It’s a suggestion only)
  • Don’t store your social media password in a normal folder.(use encryption)
  • Never use cracked application it can spread malicious ransomware on your device.( Go for using trial versions)
  • Use paid antivirus for your devices.
  • Use strong passwords for your social media & banking.( For eg:37tdiusxn68ob)
  • Change your password on timely basis.( Like you change the underwear)
  • Last, but not the least tip is Treat your privacy & security like your genetials.

Here I’m done with the topic & in Nepal if you wanna get updates about cybersecurity/infosec & I suggest you guys to join a Facebook community group of ethical hackers /infosec enthusiasts called Pentester Nepal. I will provide you the link below:

Lastly I wanna say cybersecurity is not a joke make yourself cybersafe, otherwise you will be hacked.
