Day 1: Light
- In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. The earth was formless, empty, and dark.
- God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light. He saw that the light was good and separated it from the darkness, calling the light “day” and the darkness “night.”
- This was the first day.

Day 2: Sky
- On the second day, God created the sky to separate the waters above from the waters below.
- He called the sky “heaven.”

Day 3: Land, Seas, and Vegetation
- On the third day, God gathered the waters below the sky into one place, revealing dry ground, which He called “land,” and the gathered waters He called “seas.”
- God saw that it was good and then made the land produce vegetation: plants yielding seeds and trees bearing fruit with seeds.

Day 4: Sun, Moon, and Stars
- On the fourth day, God created the sun to govern the day, the moon to govern the night, and the stars.
- These lights were set in the sky to separate day from night and to mark seasons, days, and years.

Day 5: Birds and Sea Creatures
- On the fifth day, God created the creatures of the sea and the birds of the air.
- He blessed them, saying, “Be fruitful and multiply and fill the waters in the seas, and let birds multiply on the earth.”

Day 6: Land Animals and Humans
- On the sixth day, God created land animals: livestock, creatures that move along the ground, and wild animals.
- Then God said, “Let us make man in our image, after our likeness, and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, the birds of the air, the livestock, all the earth, and every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.”
- So God created mankind in His own image; male and female He created them.
- God blessed them and said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply, fill the earth and subdue it, and have dominion over the fish of the sea, the birds of the air, and every living thing that moves on the earth.”
- God provided every seed-bearing plant and every tree with fruit for food for humans and all the animals.

Day 7: Rest
- By the seventh day, God had finished the work He had been doing, so He rested from all His work.
- God blessed the seventh day and made it holy because on it He rested from all the work of creating that He had done.

Creation of Man and Woman (Genesis 2)
- The second chapter of Genesis gives a more detailed account of the creation of humans.
- God formed man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and man became a living being.
- God planted a garden in Eden and placed the man there to work it and take care of it.
- God commanded the man not to eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.
- Seeing that it was not good for man to be alone, God created animals and brought them to the man to name them, but none was found to be a suitable helper.
- So God caused the man to fall into a deep sleep, took one of his ribs, and made a woman from the rib and brought her to the man.
- The man said, “This is now bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh; she shall be called ‘woman,’ for she was taken out of man.”
- For this reason, a man leaves his father and mother and is united to his wife, and they become one flesh.

These two chapters describe the foundational story of the world’s creation according to the Bible, emphasizing God’s power and purpose in creating a good and ordered world, with humans as the pinnacle of His creation, made in His image.
