Its hard to debate what the future holds for mankind but there is no denying in the progress of technology. Just think back about a time when people thought that humans will never be able to fly, about a time when talking to someone miles away was without a handheld device was impossible and so many other marvelous achievements of mankind. Now coming back to machine translator, we would say that it is also one of the human feats where the machine can change one language to another. But there will be a major obstacle for a perfect machine translator and that is the ability of a human being. While machine is fed with information and programmed to match languages , sentences and words it is yet not possible for the machine to understand it with reason. Human Translators understand the text , the language and the theme thus can deduce the meaning behind the text. But a machine doesn’t do that. It has algorithms which help it function and and obtain the output. This is the major difference and while the machine language can be right at times, it cannot interpret as well as the human translator. Thus I believe as long as the machine translator cannot match human translators skill in that regard or doesn’t become that advance till the human translators are still superior.
