(Warning: this is a somewhat edited version of a single audio recording I did about two years ago and hence more an outdated statement of belief than a coherent and well cited academic article. It has been sitting in my draft folder since then and now is as good a time as any to share it. Enjoy!)
TL;DR: an untested hypothesis about how a whole host of current negative phenomena (millennial “laziness”, SJWs, modern arrogance, “SCIENCE!”, etc.) share a common link: absence of bodily expression.
I believe I have found a link between our victim culture and what Elliott Hulse…
Welcome to the blog!
Zeptr is an open access research project at the intersection of language, technology, and metapolitics. This blog serves as your main gateway into the project. Here, you will find articles, quotations, commentary, and other forms of discourse around powerful ideas primarily from sociology, philosophy, as well as computer and cognitive sciences. There is a common thread uniting these disparate pieces of content: a deep sense that this time requires of us, and rewards us for, a simultaneous breaking down of rigid boundaries and the construction of new, dynamic ones.
Introducing you to Zeptr is yours truly…
Today, Neufund in collaboration with Lacore Rechtsanwälte and Wardyński Partners is announcing its plans to form a European Regulatory Initiative on blockchain and related technologies. As our first step in establishing this initiative, and together with an initial group of collaborators and co-signatories, we are publishing the ‘EUREG Report’ to the crypto community and the greater public. The result of several months of work, we are now launching it with the express purpose of starting a community-wide conversation, receiving feedback, and bringing the community together.

Two weeks ago, we announced our plans to tokenize Neufund’s Employee Stock Option Plans and have it governed by a smart contract. We released our code on GitHub to the public and answered questions from the community. But the contracts weren’t live yet.
Yesterday then, finally, we took the plunge and signed all our employees up to the real mainnet contract… 😱
The deployment itself though was an emotional roller coaster! We had initially attempted the signing last Friday, but thanks to some Chinese mining pool flooding the network, our transactions didn’t go through. Then, when we actually did succeed…
On Wednesday, Neufund launched the first ever Employee Stock Options Plan on Ethereum-based tokens. It is a first, smaller version of — and test case for — an ultimately much larger idea: securities (of all types) on the blockchain.
Of course this in itself is no small feat, and potentially fraught with large risks — so we decided to go ahead and test it on ourselves first. You can learn how we solve those issues in the announcement post and the in-depth explanation piece.
Today, Exosphere is proud to announce the third edition of the BitNation Scholarship!
What started as an experiment to bring together the members of both of our communities and enable outstanding individuals to create ground breaking projects, has since grown into an established program benefiting not only the recipients, but the entire Academy by bringing in brilliant and caring people. Their efforts, multiplied through collaboration with other participants and the experienced members of our staff, have created noteworthy projects and advanced the conversation in the wider blockchain and governance community.
At this summer’s Exosphere Academy we had a wonderful participant by the name of Lucas. Initially a member of the Philosophy Stream, he decided to switch to Biohacking after learning about the cool stuff that its members planned to work on. So at the end of the orientation week he took his bag, moved into “the Biohouse”, and began to learn “how to science the shit out of nature.”
This is a series exploring the theory of science (short “TOS”) and related ideas, inspired by Tiago Forte’s series on the Theory of Constraints. Like he, I don’t yet know how long this series will go on and will also challenge myself by constraining (hah!) each post’s length to a reading time of 5 minutes. TOS begins with a mix of familiar and not-so-familiar observations, but builds towards a number of profound insights as the series progresses and we leave shallower waters behind us.
Like any endeavor, embarking on an exploration of a complex subject like science requires us to…
Blockchain people, listen up! I get it…
I get it that you love this technology and the potential it holds. I like it, too! It allows me to transfer information and value from one end of the globe to another, securely, verifiably, cheaply, and within seconds, all without an intermediary that takes advantage of his special position. This is quite an achievement, and lots of smart people are working on making it even better.
I get it that you have high hopes for what spreading the use of this technology can accomplish. Competing with conventional banks, bringing down our corrupt…
Today I am announcing Exosphere’s Ethereum Developers Course. It will take place for three weeks from September 26th to October 14th, 2016, at the Exosphere HQ in Reñaca, Chile. It’s purpose is to equip both individual and corporate coders with the knowledge and practice they need to start working with Ethereum *for real*.
After announcing three months ago that our Academy would host an Ethereum Stream, we received an onslaught of applications: more than 100 in the first three weeks alone. Unfortunately, in many cases either the timing or the duration didn’t fit. …
