I have had a Google Cardboard since day 1. I have shown anyone who has looked vaguely interested and everyone has been blown away by it. The gaming side of it is something I thought would straight away take advantage of the technology. But I have to say I’m much more excited about the applications in education, how much more could you learn about any era in history than being able to experience it in the first person.
I will be getting the new version of the Gear VR when it is released and am excited by projects like LucidCam https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/lucidcam-the-world-s-first-consumer-3d-vr-camera#/. I think it’s slightly ironic that if Google had waited before releasing Glass for Cardboard and Oculus to permeate the general public’s consciousness they would have brought it into a very different world.
I can’t wait to see where this is going and really hope it is greater than gaming and porn!
