It really depends on whether the thing you didn’t do anymore was something you liked to do in the first place, or just a job to pay the bills.
I’d bet that people who do miserable jobs out of necessity, especially if they have done it all their life, will become lazy, having no idea what to do when given personal freedom. This is a temporary phase however. Laziness is empty, boring, it does not satisfy. If you think you could be lazy forever, you probably haven’t been lazy for enough time.
Passion, engagement, purpose, are the ingredients that make you want to do true creative, personal work. And they are borne out of the realization of your personal freedom. Fear.. Fear just makes you work, like it would an animal.
