Yes, you raised good points.
But my point was, of course, in general terms. Every statement ever, has an implied “except in exceptional cases”. Like your case.
But for most fat people, changing your weight is indeed quite possible.
They don’t HAVE to. I emphasised that. If your weight is not bothering you, just ignore other people. But at the moment that it’s making your life worse and you don’t like that, do something.
Of course, except in exceptional cases.
But that is also the reason for questions. I asked a question. Instead of saying “it’s your fault for not losing weight”, I asked why. Asking why is probably the best way to find out she is indeed in an exception case like yours.
Asking “why didn’t you do anything about it” is not an attack. It’s a question. If the question is answered with “because I have a disease that prevents me from losing weight”, then the discussion moved forward and we can better understand each other.
I understand it’s a delicate matter to you, Renae. But being overly defensive and attacking people is not a way to solve anything. Pointing fingers and saying that my assumption (that is not even an assumption I have) is part of the problem, that won’t solve anything nor move the discussion forward.
