Shame on you Nashville Symphony
Stephen G Jones

I couldn’t agree more. As Dan Johnson alluded to in his comment, these people are creative professionals in an industry that’s been even harder hit than ours. You would THINK they, of all people, would appreciate the realities of trying to earn a living in a creative field. If, despite their recent success, they don’t have the money or can’t spend it for other reasons, I get that. Find a great designer or firm, offer them a trade at retail versus retail prices. The thing no one wants to answer when they bring these ideas up is “What happens if NONE of the entries does what we need it to do?” You HAVE to pick a winner, even if it’s not good. Do we then go hire someone and face the ire of the public? It’s just always a bad idea. Thanks for a thoughtful piece about it.
