…w because anyone who has ever loved wrestling knows that a heel cannot be defeated by another heel. The rules of wrestling are simple. A face believes in something — let’s call it truth, justice, and the American way. But a heel doesn’t have to believe in anything other than their own glory. They are free from any moral duty. A face is unironically committed to a personal code of conduct. A heel is pure irony; heels never have to mean what they say. And they find saying the opposite of what they mean hilarious. Because nothing matters except getting applause, or retweets, or likes, or any validation, really, from the mob. I heel, therefore I am.
…nt party line. People were given truth according to whatever was most convenient for the government and removed from any ability to independently verify facts for themselves. Nineteen Eighty-Four shows end-stage gaslighting, as society as a whole has lost the ability to process its own facts and instead simply believes whatever Big Brother says.
In fact, did you know, most cultures around the world don’t kiss on the lips? What seems so perfectly natural to Westerners is weird shit to most of the people around the world. It’s like how breasts in one culture are highly sexualized, while in another they’re almost entirely utilitarian, about as sexual as an elbow. Nature and nurture are fused, as inseparable as day from night. There is no “natural way” for men and boys.
