You’ve identified many of the issues I think about, directly and eloquently, both the more apparent (e.g. teachers tipping over into modesty when trying to demonstrate humility) and the deeper down (patriarchy and white supremacy). Your point about other people waiting to jump in and fill the gap is also well taken. I’d love to see this piece become a sort of turning point, summing up where we’ve been and implying where we need to go.
