Tons of people are having a complete blast tearing apart the Apple purchase of Beats Audio. There’s a lot of solid reasoning behind the purchase aside from just the numbers. Say what you want but the fact remains that Beats have made a serious cultural impact. The creative marketing featuring each region’s biggest sports hero’s was a brilliant move (and it’s what made Beats headphones the only thing Noah wanted for his 10th birthday this year because if Colin Kaepernick wears them then they must be the greatest thing on the market).

There’s a lot of art in taking something simple and making it into a product that becomes a status symbol (remember the white Apple earbuds everyone was walking around with a few years ago?). This cultural impact becomes even crystal clear when you look at spots like this one — if you’re any type of sports fan you will love this one. Football/Soccer fever is a worldwide obsession that’s finally taking hold in the US (just wait until the World Cup starts). Sports and music transcends all cultural and generational lines and there’s a lot of beauty in that. It might just be the best 5 minutes of your day.
