Very soon you’ll be using Social Media 2.0 and you might not even notice the difference. So this is a super simple breakdown of what’s going to change.
Sharing and connecting is socialising. So right now social networks are a bunch of websites and apps that let you connect and share with people.
So what is Social Media 2.0?
It’s the evolution of social networking! Here’s the explanation:
1. SM 2.0 is still going be platforms for sharing
Media and how we share it might change but social media is still gonna be sharing on platforms. Facebook is here to stay!
2. It’s going to get super immersive
The Internet of things is coming. With wearable tech and products like @Nest and @helloivee we’re gonna be surrounded with new ways to share. I can’t predict how awesome it’s gonna be, but it’s gonna be awesome.
3. The variety is not going to stop
Social Media is going to be for everything (and everyone). There are so many new platforms to share on and only 1 in 3 people have access to the Internet. Zuck wants everyone online! With more creative people getting access to the Internet every day, people are never going to stop amazing you.
4. We’ll share way more, but privacy is set for a comeback
We’re sharing 1% of the information we will be sharing in 10 years time. Check out what @Existapp are creating, it’s super awesome. At the same time anonymity is going to stay popular; see recently launched @getsecret. But it’s not a battle between them, you might find yourself using both!
5. Startups need monies to continue!
Lots of social platforms aren’t making money yet, which means soon your favourite social network might need your help to stay up. Some social networks are going to have to start advertising and some have already started: (you’re worth $50 to Facebook!).
Is Social Media 2.0 going to be a bad thing?
Social media isn’t new or something to worried about. Cavemen were writing on each others walls long before Facebook! Social Media 2.0 is just what we’re calling the next stage in the evolution of communication. It’s going to be awesome, see you there!
