Thank you for the article. I appreciate the honesty and can relate in a number of ways.

I’ve been thinking a lot about love lately, and I’m starting to realize love is what anchors us all… Its at the core of humanity. We are born with a great capacity for it. It’s the lineage of abuse and trauma that obfuscates it. Families are places where unconditional love can exist, but they can also be cesspools of wicked and vile abuse. Abuse that corrupts our ability to both love and be loved. Abuse that gets embedded into our genes only to be relived generation to generation…I’m 44 and only just now learning how to step outside the brutal cycle. For me its about seeing the abusers as the abused, recognizing my anger and resentment, and learning to set clear, compassionate boundaries for those toxic people in your life, family or otherwise. If you can do this you’ll be happier and hate them less…but it can be very hard to do.
