I would tend to disagree that the current financial empire is founded on greed, I think this common refrain misidentifies the cause of the behavior. This behavior is founded on FEAR, not greed and by downplaying the role of fear we can only come to a skewed understanding of what is really going on.

The .001% are not consolidating all wealth because they want more things, they are doing so SPECIFICALLY TO KEEP WEALTH OUT OF THE HANDS OF POTENTIAL RIVALS including from among the common people. The desire is negative not positive!

Better to sequester or destroy what might aid your enemy and that is what they are doing, their wealth is a defensive shield not an offensive weapon, but our wealth is considered by them to be an offensive weapon, so they are taking it all away wherever and whenever they can.

Greed would make a far better foundation than fear because fear makes cooperation impossible. If my motivation is greed I will empower anyone who makes me profit, that is potentially anyone with talent and ability.

Instead people with talent and ability are constrained by every means to prevent them from becoming independent business rivals and to keep them subservient employees, often the less talented less able individuals are promoted instead to make sure the capable are locked out of positions of power.

A social climate full of excessive fear can only destroy, greed can sometimes create.
