🏀 DapperLabs on fire, launches UFC and NFL NFTs

You’ve probably heard of NBATopshot. DapperLabs partnered with the Association in 2020 to launch collectible NFT “Moments” on Dapper’s blockchain (Flow blockchain).

(originally published 2/19/22) — This is my NFT of Boban exploding to the rim for an earth-shattering dunk (He’s the guy from the Goldfish snack commercials). Fun fact: because Panini America is “the official” trading card producer for the NBA, Topshot had to call these “moments” instead of cards.

At its peak last February, Topshot did $45 million in sales in one day. Many Lebron highlights were selling for $200k+. The key was that you could use your credit card to load up your Dapper wallet. No need to read confusing tutorials on wallets and marketplaces from some crank like me.

The market volume has since cooled off but Topshot will always hold a special place in our hearts as the first mainstream-accessible NFT project.

Looking to repeat NBATopshot’s success, Dapper launched UFC Strike and NFL All day in January and November respectively. UFC’s initial drop of knockout NFTs sold out 100,000 packs for $50 each in just a few hours. Check out this NFT of a large man getting kicked in the head.

NFL All Day is still in closed Beta, but you can try signing up before the platform is public at nflallday.com. Every week or two I’ll join the virtual waiting room for an NFL moment drop. There’s usually a line of 75,000+ in front of me so I still haven’t had the chance to purchase.

While I doubt NFL or UFC NFTs will ever reach the insane volume Topshot saw last year anytime soon, it’s probably worth buying a moment or two from the first run. Like first edition Pokemon cards, those should hold their value the most.
