Hi Jason, I found your article through a google search for “urban planning ux.” A lot of what you said resonates with me as well. I think good design and the principles of UX are so vital to a robust, flexible, and fair city/community. “User experience” and “usability” make a lot more sense in terms of traditional advocacy and planning when you translate them as “accessibility.”
How has your experience been so far? I finished under grad with a degree in CS and only realized how much I loved urban planning and the problems surrounding it recently as well. I was doing my google search trying to explore opportunities to get into the field, as I am personally a bit averse to another round of expensive formal education for now. I would love to hear how your journey down that route is developing.
