  1. I’m surprised it took so long for this to happen.
  2. The original trilogy was really explicit about the cyclical nature/reincarnation of The One/Neo, and of Zion for that matter, which means they could start with a blank slate if they wanted to. Why not just start all over in a different time with a new cast?
  3. Excepting 2, it seems like a good way to capitalize on the IP would be to do a network series as sort of a cross-up between Animatrix, X-Files, and Agents of Shield. Weird “deja vú” events keep happening — how do our characters, who don’t know they’re in the Matrix, understand their lives through them? It’s been done before, but Fargo season 2 showed that isn’t necessarily a barrier to making compelling TV.
