The three faces of the cloud

When someone talking about cloud, it is good to pay attention to what context cloud is used. Cloud to me always has three different faces. For the consumer, cloud simply means having the information stored in the internet data center managed by some cloud providers. For a developer, cloud means to have all the data center infrastructure handy at API calls. However, for a data center infrastructure provider, cloud is the infrastructure itself. How to efficiently manage the life cycle of the data center resources, how to detect the configuration changes, how to config the data center resources such as virtual machine, network, load balancer etc. become the top focus of the cloud operator. As an engineer/Architect for the cloud infrastructure, I am more interested in the configuration in the cloud, the life cycle management automation as well as configuration drift detection. I will focus on cloud configuration issues in my future articles.
