Lunch with Amber
11-10-2013
Trying to record my thoughts and practice my writing. 1st post!
Today after church, went to a new Thai restaurant, Pestle Rock in the Ballard area, which specializes in Isaan-style cuisine, the food of northern Thailand. This style of Thai food has recently gained more attention in the U.S. mainly through the notoriety of Pok Pok restaurant in Portland and New York. Those restaurants are owned by a white American with extensive travel experience in Thailand. So today’s restaurant made an interesting comparison, as it is owned and run by Thai nationals. I have to admit the food at Pok Pok was much better, though this one I will definitely try to come back again.
After lunch, we grabbed coffee at Ballard Coffee Works. There, we talked about we we placed on the “emotion-spectrum scale.” A 10 is someone I would find unbearably emotional, I put Amber squarely in the 7ish area; myself as well, though more of an 8.
The thing about Amber is she is very self-aware and reflective in her emotionalism, which is why she doesn't warrant a higher score; she hides her emotionalism behind a veneer of intellectualism and contextualism.
We also talk about the need to have a safe environment to let loose and talk shit. One thing I miss from my pre-Christian days is talking about girls in all of its profane glory!
I said to our relationship would reach the next level if next time I see a woman i find attractive and tell her about it.
