Submitting an In-person Application at RMI for Internship
Hey everyone! Let me take you on a little adventure that started with an exciting initiative called Extra Mile by Amal Academy PW 7. I was pondering over which organization could help me grow and polish my professional self when destiny pointed me toward a fantastic opportunity at Rahman Medical Institute (RMI).
Calling all pharmacy students — this one’s for you! After hearing positive stories from seniors about the great treatment students get at RMI, I decided to check it out for a possible final-year internship.
On January 17, 2024, I nervously walked into RMI for a meeting with the Pharmacy Manager. We talked about my university details, my current academic year, and all sorts of things related to my field. Yep, I was a bit jittery, but my excitement for hands-on experience trumped the nerves.
The turning point came when the manager asked about a university letter for the internship. I explained that those letters come after final exams, but my eagerness brought me to RMI in the hope of grabbing an opportunity. I spilled the beans about how RMI’s good reputation motivated me and kept the conversation honest.
The manager’s advice was pretty smart. While he welcomed me to join the hospital, he suggested looping in my supervisor officially to make sure everything matched up with the internship requirements.
This experience taught me something important: never shy away from talking to decision-makers. Whether it’s managers, CEOs, or folks with authority, chatting them up can open doors.
Sure, I faced a couple of challenges — no official letter and no clear nod from my supervisor. But I charged ahead, telling the manager about my solo visit for learning and exposure. He liked my honesty and gave a golden nugget of advice — follow the proper channels.
Looking forward, I’ve got a game plan. Before jumping into opportunities, I’ll chat with my supervisor. And hey, aiming to snag a recommendation letter from him will be my secret weapon for smoother journeys ahead.
