Suffering is one of the most difficult concepts for Christians to understand. There are various things that can count as suffering, for example, the loss of a loved one, heartbreak, illness, poverty etc.

When we go through trials, the first question that comes to mind is “why?” God never promised us a suffering-free life, but he has assured us that he will walk through the trials with us and compensate us with glory when the season of suffering is over.

Seasons of suffering often seem like the loudest and the longest, because the devil comes to whisper in our ears and make us question God’s love and His presence. However, your suffering won’t last forever, it has an expiry date.

In 1 Peter 5:10, the Bible tells us that after we have suffered for a little while, God will perfect, establish, strengthen and settle us. This verse brings a world of encouragement because it announces to us that there’s glory waiting on the other side of suffering.

God has invited us to be partakers of his eternal glory. This means that we have been called upon to enjoy a glory that never ends. Everything that belongs to God is yours, and the glory God has in store for you will outlast every season of suffering.

God will perfect you: He will make you whole and put you back together again. He will mend you and fix you and bring beauty out of your brokenness.

God will establish and strengthen you: He will make you firm and solid. You will no longer blow to and fro with the winds of life. He will build you up as a solid foundation.

God will settle you: He will place upon you the weight of his glory so you can carry out your assignment effectively.

God doesn’t waste seasons of suffering. If you’re going through trials, it’s because he’s about to build something on you. Trust him and be encouraged, because your suffering has an expiry date.

Join us for Day 3 of the 12 Days of Glory conference today and experience the transformation of a lifetime.
