Fortistar and Rumpke Waste & Recycling- the two companies have commenced the construction of the Noble Road Landfill Renewable Natural Gas (RNG) project which will be worth $33m. The ambitious project is aimed at extracting and capturing waste methane from the Noble Road Landfill followed by its conversion into renewable natural gas. This RNG will be further distributed through the pipelines of another important partner Chesapeake Utilities Corp affiliate Aspire Energy.

Fortistar and Rumpke Waste & Recycling Launched $33M Project in Ohio

They are planning to dispense the fuel in fueling stations for natural gas operated vehicles through Trustar Energy which happens to be a Fortistar portfolio company.

As you know methane is a greenhouse gas which is estimated to be 30 times more potent than carbon dioxide. The project aims at capturing a whopping 20323 tons of methane on an annual basis to transform it into RNG. The project is not only sustainable and green, but also aims at creating jobs for the community. Flaring and burning methane is not considered a green option and hence this project is being welcomed by the community as well as biogas plants in India as well.

About 6.9 millions of gasoline will be produced which suffices to fuel as many as 725 biofuel trucks. This will also help displace diesel and create about 35 to 40 construction jobs in addition to 3 permanent green operations jobs to ensure seamless production of this phenomenally sustainable source of energy.

Proprietary Membranes to be Provided by Air Liquide

Biogas purification businesses applaud the project which includes construction of an all new facility which will leverage an advanced and patented technology for the treatment of landfill gas. It will remove carbon dioxide along with few other components for purification purposes followed by the production of RNG. The Noble Road project, undoubtedly helps take renewable fuels growth strategy to another level whilst dramatically reducing greenhouse gas emissions. It is believed to be a cost effective and proven solution that will make a positive impact. It may interest you that the Noble Road project is one of the 12 new projects announced by Fortistar which are worth $500 million. About 120 million of GGE renewable natural gas is estimated to be produced once these projects are successfully completed.

Biogas upgradation companies across the globe view it as a great move which will take renewable natural gas production strategy to the next level.
