Don’t format your first draft for Biostatistics

By Dimitris Rizopoulos and Jeff Leek

One of the most annoying things about publishing scientific papers is re-formatting the paper according to the journal’s standards before you even get an editor to look at it. Almost everyone has a story about how they go through the trouble of re-formatting only to be quickly rejected and have to go through the process all over again.

We have definitely experienced that ourselves. So we are announcing a new policy for Biostatistics — just send us a pdf. Please double space it. That’s it. We’ll review your paper the first time “as is”, then if you make it through review and things are looking positive, we’ll have you format it for the journal.

Just one more way we are trying to make @biostatistics author friendly. Don’t forget to send us your best stuff!
