Andrés Iniesta Luján (Fuentealbilla, Albacete, May 11, 1984), better known as Iniesta, is a Spanish soccer player who plays as a midfielder for Vissel Kobe in the J1 League in Japan.

He spent most of his career with FC Barcelona and the Spanish national team, of which he was the captain. He is the most awarded Spanish soccer player in history with a total of 39 official titles7 and is widely recognized as one of the best soccer players of his generation and one of the best midfielders in the history of soccer.

His training as a footballer began at the age of eight in the lower categories of Albacete Balompié. After an outstanding performance at the national Alevín tournament, he signed for the F.C. Barcelona and moved to “La Masía”. In 2002 he made his debut in the First Division with the Barça first team, played 16 seasons (2002–2018) and won 32 titles as a Barcelona player: nine in La Liga, six in the Copa del Rey, seven in the Spanish Super Cup , four in the Liga de UEFA champions, three from the European Super Cup and three from the FIFA Club World Cup. 14 midfielders with exceptional technique, goal feeling and a great assistant, he played 674 competitive games for FC Barcelona, ​​he scored 57 goals and combined 139 assists and became one of the most important players in the club’s history.

As a Spanish national player he was successively with the youth categories of the national team, continental champion of the U16s in 2001, U19s in 2002 and vice world champion of the youths in 2003. He made his debut with the Spanish team at the Carlos Belmonte Stadium in Albacete in 2006 before Russia, with Spain until 2018 an absolute International game with a total of 131 games and 14 goals. He is therefore a member of the FIFA Century Club, which is made up of footballers who have played more than a hundred international matches for his national team. He was crowned two-time European champion in 2008 and 2012, was instrumental in achieving both titles and was world champion in 2010, when he scored the famous winning goal against the Netherlands in the 116th minute of the final, giving Spain the world championship. These successes earned him the Final Man of the Match of the European Championship and the Final Man of the Match of the World Championship.16 He was also runner-up in the Confederations Cup 2013 and bronze medal at the Confederations Cup 2009.

On an individual level, he was nominated for the Ballon d’Or without interruption between 2009 and 2016, was once runner-up (2010), a third (2012) and twice fourth (2009 and 2011) and was in the XI FIFA / FIFPro- World Cup and six on the UEFA Team of the Year. In 2012 he was named “Best Player of the European Championship” and “UEFA Best Player in Europe” and received these awards as the first footballer in the same year.17 He was named the best game designer in the world by the International Association of Football History and Statistics ( IFFHS) twice (2012 and 2013), nine times the best midfielder in La Liga (2009, 2011, 2012, 2013 and 2014) and belongs to the selected group of eight players who won the triple in Europe twice (2009 and 2015), that is in the same year to win the championship title, the national cup and the highest continental title. He also reached the sextet (2009) or six titles in a row in the same season and the team triplet (2008–2012) or won three international tournaments in a row.

He was awarded the Gold Medal of the Royal Order of Sports Merit in 2011, the Gold Medal of Castilla-La Mancha in the same year and the Grand Cross of the Royal Order of Sports Merit in 2018, was named the adoptive son of Albacete in 2010 and received the Ciudad Deportiva del Albacete Balompié, the name “Ciudad Deportiva Andrés Iniesta”.
