Colour has an enormous impact on our lives. Often, you may not even realise the difference it makes – that is until you discover that you cannot sleep in a bright red room. The more space a colour occupies in a room, the more you will understand its power over our subconscious. That is precisely why it is crucial to choose the right colour carpeting for your commercial office. Not sure how to say what you want? Here is a quick an easy guide to choosing the right colour carpet for your commercial office.

Red Carpeting – Red is considered to the colour that gives off the best first impression. So it makes a bold and impactful first taste of your company. However, it can also be a little overwhelming, so it may not be a great idea to use a lot of red in the areas where you need to make a big sale (opt for something more calming). But, when your clients first walk in the door, a little punch of red on the floor may just do you some good. Balancing this colour is important though, so make considered choices in wall coverings when you have red flooring.

Pink Carpeting – This is a difficult colour for most businesses to include. Although it is largely associated with women, it actually triggers a romantic centre in our brains. And while that can include actual love and romance, it also tends to stimulate day dreams of happiness and comfort. As such, it makes a delightful addition to a travel agency, especially for holiday packages, which are often a dream holiday for most clients. Pink doubly stimulates a calm compassion, and it is the calming effect you may just be after when asking your clients to spend a little more than they planned.

Orange Carpeting – It is a little unorthodox, to be sure, but orange is a fantastic choice for creative enterprises. It is just as stimulating as red can be, but rather than suggesting power, it portrays informality, as well. That makes it an excellent choice if you want people to feel at home in your space. This is a terrific colour for a showroom floor as it allows people to imagine themselves with a particular product, and it does create a feeling of inhibition in some. If you have ever seen big ticket items displayed in an orange environment, now you know precisely why.

Yellow Carpeting – Unsurprisingly, yellow carpeting is associated with sunshine and happiness. Strangely though, it is physically the most difficult colour for your eyes to accept. Many people subconsciously interpret yellow as increasing logic and the ability to think clearly. It is a perfect colour to include if you have a business that caters to exhausted, overworked clients (not your employees, of course). However, yellow carpeting can show many of the same stains and footprints as a white carpeting can, so you probably do not want to feature it at the entrance to your shop or office. Then again, you may have the world’s best cleaning team; in which case – go for it.

Brown Carpeting – It may seem a bit drab to you, but brown carpeting has a lot of benefits for any business. It is especially powerful as carpeting as it can be a bit overpowering on office and shop walls. However, brown immediately makes most people feel at home. It’s friendly and inviting – almost like a strong embrace. So, it is perfect for creating an environment that puts people at ease. At the same time, it is a no nonsense colour; not only does it evoke subtlety serious emotion, it is also adept at hiding the dirt tracked in from outside, and the coffee spilled on the way out from the tea room.

Purple Carpeting – This is one of the best colours you can choose for carpeting if your business specialises in luxury products and solutions. It is traditionally the colour of monarchy and royalty, which means that our brains associate it with power – and the good life. Interestingly enough, it also tends to trigger the selfless part of our brains, perhaps even magnanimous sensations, which makes it a perfect choice for companies that raise funds for the less privileged. As a carpeting, the deeper the purple, the better it is at lasting through the day without requiring an extra vacuum, so it is also rather practical.

Blue Carpeting – This is one of the most common carpeting colour choices for offices, and shop fronts. But, it is not without reason. It sends messages to our brains that suggest loyalty and peace, which are certainly things we want to inspire within our existing clientele. However, some new clients may find that it is a bit predictable, so if you are new on the market, this may not be the best choice until you have plenty of clients. However, it is likely to keep your employees on task – so it is perfect for the office areas of your business.

Green Carpeting – Just as yellow is associated with sunshine, green is paralleled with the foliage on the trees. Many people internalise this colour as reflecting vibrancy and vitality. Unsurprisingly, it also suggests growth, and loving care. It is fantastic, therefore, for any company that cares for other people – or their assets. It is often assumed to be a reliable colour, adding to its use within financial industries. If you do opt for green carpeting, consider your wall choices; you may well want to avoid (or embrace) the outdoorsy feeling it can also evoke.

Grey Carpeting – This colour works in thousands (if not millions) of offices across the world. It is the easiest colour for your eyes to take in, which renders it familiar and comfortable. Additionally, you can consider it as the original compromise, falling somewhere between black and white. This is likely to be the first choice for many commercial companies, regardless of the areas to be carpeted as it is just so convenient. It rarely shows dirt or stains, and can easily regain its brilliance with a quick shampoo. However, with all the pluses it has, grey can often feel too much like every other business, so you may want to give it a proper think before installation.

Of course, you can always go for white or black to make a bold, impactful statement to everyone that enters your premises. But, then you likely already know how difficult it is to incorporate either into your flooring. Perhaps choose a lighter or darker version of another colour – unless that impact is exactly what you need.
