Visual Deterrents

• Install netting over open space: This will prevent birds from entering your windows and balconies.
• Hang reflective objects around the area where birds frequent: These can include CDs, foil strips and shiny ribbons.
• Place bird spikes on your roof, balcony and window sills: This will prevent the birds from landing and nesting there.
• Hang up bird scarers: This can be inflatable balloons, color ribbons, bird diverters, and more.

Audible Deterrents

• Install an ultrasonic device: These devices emit higher pitched noises that are loud and uncomfortable for birds, but inaudible to humans.
• Grow bird repelling plants: Certain plants act as a natural deterrent for birds, such as peppermint, primrose and lavender.
• Install a bird call recorder: This plays pre-recorded bird distress calls, alerting other birds in the area of potential danger.

By taking the steps above, you can successfully deter birds from coming near your home. Although some of these methods may require you to invest a little money, it is worth it to keep pesky birds away.
