I’m in a damaging headspace where I view school as being the place where creativity is stifled and self-learning is slowed. While I recognize the obstacles that college presents to what I perceive as meaningful learning, I never actually take measures to overcome them. Instead of calling the wall of challenges that college puts before me, I’ve made myself comfortable leaning again that wall and telling others of its height and fortitude.
The struggle between trying to reach a state of creativity and the comfort of staying idle keeps me from starting new and exciting projects. Aware of my desire to learn and create, I sit with my nearly infinitely powerful laptop to begin. How do I get past this constant state of “motivation”? Where do I begin with all these choices? Where motivation can empower others, it paralyzes me. The vastness of possibilities can overwhelm.
Our technology is often used as a window to look at others’ accomplishments and actions. We long to create, but we often keep scrolling.
Let us cut off the endless data that is overloading our minds. School, social media, notifications, emails, text messages, and news flood our thoughts and cripple us.
Let us not be mindless subscribers, but active contributors.
Let us strip away all the distractions and disconnect in order to reconnect with ourselves and our aspirations.

- Avoid the deluge of inspiration that comes at the cost of true movement.
- Make a mess, and flee from my conforming nature.
- Dream with hope and concrete vision that leads to action.
