So… what’s the big deal about small talk?
I’ve just read an article named “So… what’s the big deal about small talk?”. It is real food for thought.
It starts with a disappointing picture. The main character is embarrassed because he doesn’t know how to start a conversation. Many people know this feeling.
The main problem of the article is discomfort during small talk. The author says that without small talk anybody rarely get to real conversation. We all should know two important things: we are not alone and other people have to practice too. It said in the article that we should take the risk and assume the burden.
People use small talk to humanize the relationship. That’s clear because we are humans, not machines. People just want to feel heard and significant.
To sum up the author that small talk is not small thing and every person should maximize one’s opportunities.
Don’t be afraid of small talk!
