Turns out, not many people change their minds because of something they see on social media
This headline really popped out to me because I get swayed with the news and posts I see on social media. Honestly, social media is my news source most of the time. The article states, “Just 14 percent of the 4,594 US adults surveyed between May 29 and June 11 said they have changed their views about a political or social issue in the past year due to something they saw on social media.” I’m surprised that more people aren’t somewhat swayed by certain posts. I know of several people that have changed certain opinions because of what their exposed to on social media. It seems that people have such strong opinion going into socila media that seeing arguments against their views maybe trigger them to prove a point. The article also talked about how more Democrats and liberals changed their views according to social media posts. This also came as a shock to me because from my experience Democrats stick their ground and are not easily swayed on any type of views. After reading the article it seems that social media could enhance one’s political views instead of altering them. For a business this would seem beneficial to enhance one’s views on a certain topic. A business shouldn’t try to post negatively about a certain claim because it will not sway the mind of a consumer. Overall, this article came as a shock to me, but it’s important to note as a business owner. Social media does not easily change one’s mind.
