The Bitcoin Foundation (TBF) remained a part of controversy and conspiracy a few years back just like any other person or organisation connected to Cryptocurrency Market. The Bitcoin Foundation is a not-for-profit organisation which aims to make Bitcoin popular and aware people how to use Bitcoin for exchange and store of value without the help of a third party. It was founded in September 2012 with a mission to promote the use of Bitcoin around the whole World.

Now, Lets get to know a little about the protagonist of the article,Brock Pierce.

Brock Pierce is an American entrepreneur and was a child actor back then in his career. After his lack of interest in acting, he got involved in an online video making company named DEN (Digital Entertainment Network) with a vision to replace television by telecasting short TV shows and web mini series. It was a rough manifestation of what we know as Youtube currently. Pierce’s role was an intern of the co-founder Marc Collins-Rector. But due to some controversy (which we’ll take up in some later part), Pierce fled from DEN and got involved in online gaming field which was at it’s rise in 2000 and incorporated his own company named IGE in 2001 which is actually a company involved in exchanging online currencies for profit.
Pierce has been involved for long with digital currencies with the inception of cryptocurrencies and later in 2014, Brock Pierce got elected as the director of The Bitcoin Foundation.

Inception Of Conspiracy

Conspiracy started when Mr. Brock Pierce was elected as the director of The Bitcoin Foundation. After his election, many renowned members of TBF had raised their concern over his election. Some actually wanted to resign and expressed their concern over his election as the director.

Mr. Andreas Antonopoulis tweeted the following tweet before he turned his back to TBF.

“I can no longer have even the smallest association with the Bitcoin Foundation, because of the complete lack of transparency.”

Andreas Antonopoulis was a major and elite member of TBF and his resignation meant a lot to the Bitcoin Foundation.

After Andreas Antonopoulis, another important co-founding member of TBF tweeted the following tweet before resigning from TBF, the man was Patrick Alexander.

“The track record of prominent Bitcoin Foundation members has been abysmal,[…] I no longer want to be associated with these people.”

Mr. Alexander said in his statement that a person with the track record like Brock Pierce can’t be trusted as the director of TBF, an elite organisation which is responsible for the standardisation and regulation of the use of Bitcoin around the whole world.

So, what are the allegations which got everyone concerned?

Engagement in Sexual Abuse

When Brock Pierce joined DEN network when he was just 18, he worked as an intern of the co-founder of DEN network Marc-Collins Rector. The network was focused on creating mini web series to replace television. But the project fell miserably. The company was subjected to many law suits filed by many child actors who claimed that they had been sexually abused by the co-founder Marc-Collins Rector and also some efforts had also been made by Brock Pierce.
Falling in the legal allegations, Pierce fled the country and arrived in Europe to get involved in Online gaming and made a fortune out of IGE.

Based on these past allegations TBF members found Brock Pierce a less trustworthy for the position of director of TBF and also claimed that a person with that bad a track record and criminal allegations cannot be of any good to TBF.

Brock denied to all these allegations. He wrote a letter in which he wrote about the false allegations made on him. He wrote.

“Despite a full investigation by the U.S. Attorney’s office, the FBI and the State of California into the allegations, I was never charged with anything whatsoever by anyone and was cleared of any wrongdoing.”

He also denied to give his resignation as the director of TBF just because of someone believing on allegations on him. He also stated the fact that nothing has been proved by FBI and the Sate of California on the allegations. He said,

‘I won’t give any resignation just because some people were talking behind my back at some online forum. I am completely a man of action and I don’t give much attention to such type of things.

Although this conspiracy made a news for almost a month or two just because of the reputation of The Bitcoin Foundation and it’s role in Bitcoin popularity and regulation.

Still many people believe that only Marc-Collins Rector was guilty of all the charges and just because Brock was a protege of Marc, the founding members of TBF took benefit of the news to force the resignation of Brock Pierce. Probably his popularity as the founder of IGE in 2001 and ZAM in 2003 and now the role in TBF became an eyesore for many.

Well, crypto market is full of conspiracies and people are trying to overthrow one another using some past allegations and some past vague behavior. For the record, Brock Pierce has never been found guilty of the allegations and still rests as the Chairman of TBF currently.
