Why Every Girl Needs a Statement Bag
If you know me, then you know how obsessed I am with handbags.
I have 30+ purses, in various shapes and sizes, in my collection and trust me when I say I’m not slowing down anytime soon. I view handbags as a way for women to express who they are and what their style is. Every handbag represents a different part of you. A colorful purse shows you’re fun and willing you take risks. A classic tote shows you have an appreciation for styles that last. A backpack shows you’re laid back and willing to adventure.

So when I saw the Joanna Satchel handbag I knew it was the one. It comes in two different colors — dark maroon or black — and I opted for the first option. I have a lot of black bags already and the deep maroon is very rich but neutral at the same time. What really caught my eye was the interwoven design — it adds such a beautiful texture to the simple handbag. Other details include double top handles with light gold hardware throughout.
While this bag is faux leather the quality is very good. I’m usually hesitant with faux leather because you never know how long it will last. But the material used for the Joanna Satchel are durable for everyday use. The bag is also very spacious — which is a huge plus for someone like me who carries around a million things in my handbags!
I’ve had a lot of fun styling this bag. I’ve worn it with everything you can think of — blue jeans and a white t-shirt, black jeans and a fancy blouse for work, but my favorite was pairing it with this Ruffle Trim Slip Dress from Who What Wear (available at Target!). The slip dress has black and white dots all over it and it really brought out the dark maroon in the handbag. Plus, the dress on the ruffles worked nicely with the woven design on the bag — it’s all about mixing textures, right?! To keep the focus on the dress and handbag I kept my other accessories simple. I’m wearing nude Stecy sandals by Steve Madden, rose gold hoops from TopShop and a rose gold Fiji Friendship bracelet by Monica Vinader.
I’m seriously obsessed with this look! As the weather gets warmer in San Francisco I’ll definitely be wearing this outfit over and over again. Plus, I have endless opportunities to style my new Hazlmay bag going into next season.
